What Exactly is This StitchFix Thing?

Are you the farm girl who dreads going shopping but knows you need some nice pieces for a conference you are attending? Or just even for church on Sundays? Maybe you like to shop but just don’t have the time because we all know with spring field work, summer haying and fall harvest sometimes things like shopping have to take a place on the backseat. Or if you’re like me and work in an agricultural office you do need to dress in casual clothes that are a step up from barn clothes.

I don’t even know how I first heard about StitchFix. I started it probably close to five years ago when I worked in a business professional setting. When I fill out my style request for the upcoming Fix a lot of times I tell them to surprise me. From this I have received numerous pieces I’d never pick out for myself and have ended up loving them. However, if you are looking for items for a specific event then say that. Or if you want long sleeved blouses write exactly that and link tops like that in your Pinterest profile. While the service caters to your needs, the stylists aren’t mind readers.

Stylist Picks from Fix #25

Below are common questions about StitchFix with answers from my 20-some Fix knowledge:

What is StitchFix?

It is a personal styling subscription service. Use it as many or as few times as you’d like.  The stylist curates a Fix of 5 items, catered to your needs and wants in style and fashion.

How do you get started?

To get started create a profile either online here, or in the mobile app. When filling out your profile be specific and honest with yourself. Are you trying StitchFix to branch out with your style choices? Or just looking to add to your work wardrobe? If you say you love patterns, receive patterned shirts in your fix and don’t like them, maybe you need to go back into your profile and fine tune your selections.

Is there an upfront cost?

To have an online profile is free. To receive a styled Fix, yes, the service charges $20. I assume this goes to the stylist’s wages, boxes, postage and other business costs. However, the $20 does come off of your total if you decide to purchase items.

Is it really expensive?

As previously mentioned there is a styling fee of $20. In your style profile you can set your budget for specific items. If you are looking for high-end, designer items those are offered as well. Price ranges are from “the cheaper, the better”, $50-$100 and up from there in $50 increments.

Who is StitchFix for?

ANYONE, men, women, and kids. Whether you work in a business professional setting or are a farmher you can find items from StitchFix.

What if you don’t like the items you’ve received?

You must check-out either on the mobile app or online. This means say why you aren’t keeping the item. There are toggles for size whether it’s too small, just right or too big; as well as, style, fit/cut, quality and price.

How do you return the items? What is the process when you return the items?Within three business days from the date you received the Fix, package them up in the paid return envelope. Seal up the envelope and put in a USPS dropbox.

Can I get a Fix for my kids? What about for the man in my life?

Yes and yes.

Can I keep the same stylist from one fix to the nextYes, request that in the note for the upcoming fix. Look at your style sheets to find the stylist’s name.

At the end of my explanation video on Youtube, I show what the style profile looks like on the app, check it out if you’re interested in the visual! Have you tried StitchFix before? If so, how many Fixes are you on? Any upcoming events that you’d like to try it out for now? Are there any other questions you still have? Let me know.
