Inexpensive Drugstore Eyeliner Reviews & My Favorite

There are SO many eyeliner options out there. I specifically looked at inexpensive eyeliner options that could be found during your trip to Target. If not there most can also be found at WalMart or Walgreens. The Ulta brand eyeliner is specific to that store though, however I included it since it’s relatively cheap.

There are a few tips to keep in mind with eyeliner. You can not apply it over a damp eye area. Meaning you have to let your serums and creams dry then apply. Secondly, I find it best to apply concealer first then eyeliner. Lastly, a good puff of setting powder also helps keep any eyeliner stay longer without fallout and smudging.

Now onto the good stuff, the reviews. Each one of these I tested out. I did not like all of them on the list so read all the way through for my top choices.

NYX Always Keepin’ It Tight – Not my favorite at all. This is a very fine point eyeliner. If you can even line your eye with it, you have to go over it 10 times for anything to show up. It kept breaking off on me though. The stick is so thin it breaks very easily. An Instagram influencer recommended it and I am not quite sure why. I was trying quite hard to get it to apply and ended up making my eye area all red. Maybe that’s your thing, but it sure isn’t mine. Rated 1 out of 5 stars.

Almay Eyeliner Crayon – Another very disappointing eyeliner. When I first tested this on the back of my hand it seemed to go on smooth but when I tried to use it on my eyes I got nothing. It’s like it’s dried out. No one wants red eyes because they had to press so hard to get their eyeliner on. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Rimmel Exaggerate – This is one I have tried quite a few times in the past. It’s one I have wanted to work every time I buy it but it’s only so so. It goes on decently smooth and easily. However, it does flake and smudge a little after a few hours of wear. This time around I got purple to have something fun. Rated 3 three stars out of 5.

Ulta Beauty Automatic Eyeliner – Now this line of eyeliners is hit or miss. I have the dark brown and it applies great. The matte charcoal color needs to be applied over and over for any color to show up, which is disappointing. If I buy this kind again it will only be the dark brown color. The plus side is that you can get a good deal at Ulta on them. Rated 3 out of 5 stars.

Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner – I tried this in the color Onyx. It’s a retractable pencil. Itis waterproof, which makes it tougher to get off at the end of the day. However, it does have great staying power. It applies very easily and smoothly. It is great for everyday wear, but not a night out or a really hot, summer day because it does smudge/fall out after a few hours. Rated 3.8 out of 5 stars

Milani Stay Put Eyeliner – This is my favorite inexpensive, drugstore eyeliner! I hadn’t tried it until recently. It goes on incredibly smooth and is waterproof, therefore will give you even better staying power. Love that it comes with a sharpener and smudger. I am going to get the dark brown next. This is a 4 out of 5 stars… maybe even 4.5 when you take into consideration price point.

PS take a look at the reviews online, they are pretty stellar.

Let me know when you try any of these. Do you have any favorites that should be on the list?
