Western, Bo-Ho Styled Baby Boy Nursery

Part of the reason I wanted to find out the gender of our baby was because I absolutely couldn’t wait to either decorate for a little boy or a little girl.

To get started of course I hit up Pinterest for inspiration and ideas. Check out my nursery inspiration board here. Then Noah and I looked at my ideas together. He is actually quite helpful when it comes to honing in my thoughts and ideas.

We came up with a theme of “modern western cowboy”. From there we looked at color swatches at Menards for paint. The rug below was hanging up on their huge display and when Noah pointed it out, I knew I had to have that rug. It went right along with the colors we had in mind.

I did a little deal shopping for some of the items. The best one are the drapes from Kohl’s. After a swing and a miss on black out curtains from Wal Mart online, I decided to see what Kohl’s had to offer. With a discount, sale going on and Kohl’s cash to use, I paid $16.11 for the pack of two panels! The material is much better and more attractive than the ones from Wal Mart, which makes it even better!

Our crib was from a consignment sale in Woodbury, Minn. For a used but ‘like-new’ condition crib, I paid $125 for a $500+!

A local maker and long-time acquaintance, Lexi Zunker over at Midwest Macramaniac on Instagram, custom made the macrame hanging for me. It completes the “look” of the room.

The photo project was fun to work on. The pictures are either of our family or animals of ours. Once printed, I put the photos on a mat backing from Hobby Lobby and then put them in the frames, also from there. Second from the left is of Noah and Nathan feeding calves with bottles. It’s too precious!

As for the dresser and small dresser, we picked those up separately a few years ago from individuals selling on Craigslist. Coincidentally they match almost perfectly!

Lastly, the rocker is our gift from Noah’s parents. I highly recommend going in to a store and testing them out. It’s essential to see where the head rest falls for you and to see how easily you can get in and out without using your hands (as if you were holding baby).
